This year’s Whitstable Oyster Festival is a compact, two-day affair. Starting with the Landing of the Oysters at 9.45 at Long Beach, the Oyster Parade leaves the harbour at 11am and progresses along harbour Street, High Street and Oyster Street to deliver the catch to the town's restaurants and pubs.
The weekend includes a two-day Tankerton Food Fair on the grassy slopes of Marine Parade and a full programme of music and community events on The Harbour Stage. Full details of the programme are now listed on the organisers website here.
For laughs and messiness, don’t miss the Oyster Eating Competition on Sunday at 1pm - you can email shuckingamazing@fulleventproduction to secure your place in the fight for first place. The candlelit Grotters on Reeves Beach will bring the Festival to a close on Sunday (4pm to 9pm).
If you’d like to be part of the team behind the events, join the Volunteer team. The organisers are hosting a Volunteer Meeting on Thursday 13 June 16 6.30pm at The Horsebridge Centre.
